Valerie Wiebe
Valerie Wiebe , President and COO of Concordia Hospital and Concordia Place holds a Baccalaureate Degree and a Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Manitoba. She has also completed a Certificate of Theology at the Canadian Mennonite University.

Valerie has over 17 years of experience in health care management. Valerie has had leadership roles in the areas of Gerontology, Long Term Care, Surgery, Specialized Internal Medicine, General Medicine and Addiction and Mental Health. Most recently she was the Vice-President & Chief Officer, Patient Services for CancerCare Manitoba.

Valerie’s faith, her passion to serve, and her deep commitment to patient-centered care reflect Concordia Hospital and Concordia Places’ Mennonite faith-based heritage and our desire to provide our patients with exceptional care and service, delivered with the compassion we expect for our loved ones.


Sylvia Ptashnik, Chief Nursing Officer

Sylvia Ptashnik
Sylvia Ptashnik, Chief Nursing Officer of Concordia Hospital holds a Baccalaureate Nursing Degree from the University of Manitoba and a Master’s Degree in Science Administration, Health Studies from Central Michigan University.  She has completed the Lean Six Sigma Executive Green Belt and is a member of the Academy of Canadian Executive Nurses. 

Sylvia has over 20 years of experience in health care leadership, development and delivery of health services, policy development and fiscal management across programs in the areas of acute care (ICU & Medicine), Community, Long Term Care, Nursing Education, and administration in both rural and urban settings.  Most recently she was the Director of Long Term Care Services for Deer Lodge Centre-WRHA. 

As a collaborative leader she promotes excellence and innovation in client-centered care and services by encouraging and supporting staff in delivering respectful, compassionate care and maintaining positive relationships.   


Dr. Ainslie Mihalchuk, Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Ainslie Mihalchuk
Dr. Ainslie Mihalchuk, MD, CCFP, is passionate about promoting collaborative models of delivering patient-centered care. As a family physician, her scope covers the bulk of the patient’s journey through our health-care system including community, acute care and long term care, and this unique perspective allows her to understand the value of working better together across the continuum to ensure the safety of patients.

In her many leadership roles, Dr. Mihalchuk aspires to create linkages between these various sectors while working to build relationships between physicians and the health system fostering a common vision for quality improvement and system redesign. At a local level, Dr. Mihalchuk is the Chief Medical Officer at Concordia Hospital and the Physician Co-Lead of the River East/Transcona My Health Team. At a regional level, she provides physician leadership to the WRHA Flow Initiative through her role on the Flow Improvement Team.

Dr. Mihalchuk holds additional leadership roles as the incoming 2017-2018 President of the Manitoba College of Family Physicians and through various committee appointments with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.She also maintains a small Primary Care practice at ACCESS River East.

Dr. Mihalchuk has studied many aspects of leadership in her career with a particular interest and focus on physician engagement.

Lorianne Kowaliszyn, Chief Administrative Officer Lorianne Kowaliszyn
Ms. Lorianne Kowaliszyn was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB in the North Kildonan area. She is passionate about the community in which Concordia serves.

She achieved a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Honours) from the University of Manitoba Asper School of Business in 2004, her Chartered Accountant Designation in 2007, and In-depth Tax Certification from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 2008. Lorianne has worked within the WRHA since 2008 in various capacities, most recently as the Director of Finance - Reporting and Accountability, before joining Concordia in 2015 as the Chief Administrative Officer.

Ms. Kowaliszyn contributes to the overall strategic planning and operational management at Concordia with accountability for several Regional programs.

Tiffany Kautz, Director of Quality, Patient Safety and Decision Support Tiffany Kautz
Tiffany Kautz, Director of Quality, Patient Safety and Decision Support holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Saskatchewan and is currently enrolled in the Masters of Health Studies program at Athabasca University.  She has over 10 years of nursing experience in the areas of oncology, general medicine, neurosurgery, and long term care, and has over 4 years of experience in health care leadership.

Tiffany is passionate about patient care excellence. This is demonstrated through the monitoring and reporting of the hospital’s key performance indicators, and participating in multidisciplinary collaboration to ensure Concordia Hospital’s patients receive safe, quality care.
