Volunteer Services
The Volunteer Services program:
- offers a personal service to patients and provide, in turn, a meaningful experience to the volunteer.
- acts as a liaison between hospital and community.
- offers young people in the community an opportunity to gain knowledge and various experiences within the hospital.
- develops programs which will give members of the community an opportunity to learn, develop and express their needs for leadership, responsibility and personal independence.
Our Expections of our Volunteers:
- Volunteers must be prepared to contribute a minimum of 50 hours of service over a minimum 5 months period.
- Volunteers are expected to follow the policies and procedures of Concordia.
- Volunteers agree to keep information learned about a patient confidential.
- Volunteers do not perform any duties for patients other than those assigned in their volunteer job description.
- Volunteers are required to call the Volunteer office and the Department they are scheduled to volunteer in if they are going to be late or absent from their assignment.
- Attendance is required at orientation, training sessions and meetings.
- Volunteers are expected to be prompt and reliable in reporting for volunteer work and to keep a record of hours volunteered.
To apply for volunteer services in the Student Program the requirements are:
- acceptable age is 16 years
- applicants between the ages of 16 & 18 need parental/guardian consent allowing the applicant to volunteer.
- attend orientation and training sessions
- comply with Canadian Immigration Laws and Regulations

To begin the process of becoming a volunteer, applications can be picked up in person, completed electronically or downloaded.
